Ohio Homeowners Insurance Average Costs
According to the Insurance Information Institute (III), the average cost of a homeowners insurance premium in Ohio is $874. This makes Ohio one of the least expensive states in the country for home insurance, ranking number 44.
According to the III, many factors influence the premiums you pay for insurance in Ohio. Some include:
- Your home's total square footage: The larger your home, the higher the premiums will likely be.
- The building costs in your area: These costs include construction type, materials and features that may be added or subtracted from your bottom line.
- Your home’s location: The local crime rates of your city, especially near your home, can impact your rates.
- The natural disasters that may occur: Your home’s location might be more at risk for natural disasters, such as tornadoes. Earthquake and flood coverage are excluded, but can be purchased separately.
