Considerations for Privatizing New Jersey Family Leave Insurance and Temporary Disability Benefits

The Hartford began offering Family Leave Insurance (FLI) in January 2023, in addition to our Temporary Disability Benefit (TDB) plan. Some employers may now consider switching from the state-run plans to The Hartford's plans. Employers may choose to offer a private plan or participate in the state program to distribute FLI and TDB benefits.

Employers who partner with us for NJ FLI and TDB will have a streamlined and integrated approach to administration and claims, including:

  • Ability to coordinate benefits offered through The Hartford with a single intake and integrated claims management
  • Administrative ease for both the employer and employee
  • Expertise in compliance and statutory coverage
  • End-to-end claim experience for leaves including return-to-work support for employees
  • Seamless integration with STD and LTD
  • Experienced nurses who are the first point of contact when employees report a claim
  • Employee FLI and TDB benefits as good as or better than the state program
  • Employer and employee access to personalized claim service, including direct access to a case claim representative
