Change Healthcare, part of UnitedHealth Group, is a clearinghouse used by health care providers, pharmacies, insurers, and their third-party administrators (TPAs), including some of The Hartford’s TPAs, to process medical payments and insurance claims. Change Healthcare has notified The Hartford’s supplemental health TPAs that at least some of their data was impacted by this incident. This could include data for The Hartford’s insureds who have filed claims for benefits under The Hartford’s Critical Illness, Hospital Indemnity, Accident, Group Retiree Health, and Tricare products. The Hartford has confirmed that our systems and other products were not impacted by this cybersecurity incident.
Change Healthcare has stated that impacted individuals will receive notice of this breach from Change Healthcare via mail. The notice will include an option to enroll in two years of complimentary credit monitoring and identity protection services. In addition, any individual that believes their information may have been impacted by this incident can enroll in the credit monitoring and identity protection services by following the instructions on the notice linked above.
