Kelly Vachon is head of Group Reinsurance Plus (GRP). She is responsible for GRP’s day-to-day operations and manages the overall business strategy while achieving its financial goals. She joined GRP in 2004 and has more than 20 years of group benefits experience. She’s held leadership positions in underwriting, shared services, client management and implementation. Vachon received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Eastern Connecticut State University and her MBA from the University of Connecticut.
Gary joined The Hartford in 2009 as a Senior Sales Representative on the Small Commercial Sales team. Over the next 4 years, he held several roles in increasing responsibility and leadership. In 2012, Gary moved to the Group Benefits organization where he helped develop the Small Business segment. As Regional Sales Manager, he helped lead the Small Business segment through three sales team expansions and increasing sales growth. In 2021, he was a recipient of The Hartford’s Honor’s Circle award for sales excellence. He holds GBDS and VBS designations and is an advocate for disability awareness, rights and education. Gary has been active in community service, having previously been elected to his local Town Council for one term, and was appointed chair for a three-year term on one of the town boards. He grew up in New York before relocating with his family to North Carolina in 2005. He attended Hofstra University and Stony Brook University.
Mary Bielucki is the compliance and client operations lead for Group Reinsurance Plus. She oversees the GRP teams that handle relationship management, regulatory compliance, product support, claim customer service and policy administration. Bielucki joined GRP in 2007 and has held roles in claims, compliance and operations. She has extensive knowledge of life insurance, disability insurance and voluntary supplemental health benefits. Bielucki earned her bachelor’s degrees in classics and English literature from the University of Pittsburgh and a law degree from the University of Connecticut School of Law.
Tracy Dembicer is head of actuarial for Group Reinsurance Plus (GRP). She oversees the GRP teams responsible for pricing, financial reporting, data and analytics, and reinsurance premium administration. Dembicer joined GRP in 2023 and has more than 15 years of group benefits experience. She’s held roles in pricing, reserving, performance analytics and process optimization. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and has her bachelor’s degree in actuarial sciences with minors in economics and business from the University of Connecticut.
Michele McFarlane is head of underwriting and shared services for Group Reinsurance Plus (GRP). She oversees the GRP teams that handle underwriting, best practices, training and quality management. Michele joined GRP in 2011 and has more than 20 years of group benefits underwriting experience. McFarlane earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the University of Saint Joseph and her master’s degree in management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
Rick Yi is a regional vice president for Group Benefits Claims. He is responsible for leading the disability claims operation, ensuring quality claim management and customer service experience for both employer market and private label/reinsurance. Yi, who has 27 years of insurance experience, originally joined The Hartford in 2007 as a long-term disability claim director. He received a bachelor’s degree in economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara.
