Chief Underwriting Officer
Ross Fisher is The Hartford’s P&C chief underwriting officer. He is responsible for underwriting success across the enterprise.
Fisher leads The Hartford’s underwriting decision-making, quality and insurance portfolio management, as well as the development of the underwriting teams throughout the company. He is also responsible for Global Reinsurance, Risk Engineering and the company’s Internet of Things (IoT) operations. He concentrates on making strategic, data-driven decisions to profitably grow The Hartford’s portfolio and make the company a broader, deeper risk player.
Over the course of his 30+ year career, Fisher has had varied responsibilities, including leading the integration of Navigators Insurance into The Hartford, while serving as The Hartford’s head of Specialty Commercial Business leading sales, underwriting, product development and service of complex risk products.
Fisher currently serves on the Board of Directors of Lloyd’s Syndicate 1221, The American Association of Insurance Services (AAIS) and the Board of CyberAcuView, a consortium of leading insurers focused on Cyber insurance. He previously has served as a member of the Board of Directors of The Surety and Fidelity Association of America for 10 years, most recently as Chairman from 2016-2018, the Advisory Board for the Surety Information Office and The Investment Committee of The Hartford’s Investment and Savings Plan. Fisher graduated cum laude with a bachelor's degree in finance from Franklin University and earned an MBA with Distinction from Capital University.
