We've been busy celebrating the anniversary of one of our most historic programs: The Hartford Junior Fire Marshal Program^®. Since 1947, we've deputized more than 110 million children as Junior Fire Marshals. These children have proudly worn our signature red fire helmets as they learned how to plan and act during fire-related emergencies.

Community Engagement

During our 70th anniversary celebration, we have proudly created awareness for fire prevention and safety. Here are some highlights to date:

– News stories highlighting the program nationwide, including a segment on ABC's World News Tonight.

– Different MLB clubs joined us in hosting Junior Fire Marshal days in their stadiums

– Stops with our mobile fire safety house nationwide, including a trip to the Bronx with Mariano Rivera

As part of the 70th anniversary of the Junior Fire Marshal^® program, we developed a list of the top 100 US cities with the highest risk of home fires ranked by The Hartford Home Fire Index and committed to educate 1.5 million children and donate $2 million for fire safety education over the next three years. Each city on the list will be receiving a $10,000 to the public school district and 10,000 to the local fire department for fire safety education. In addition, students in K-3 in the public school district will be receiving The Hartford's Junior Fire Marshal kit.

Our campaign doesn't stop there! In addition to this pledge and financial commitment, The Hartford created a mobile fire safety house that will visit schools in select cities across the U.S. to immerse students in fire safety demonstrations using state-of-the-art technology that simulates various home fire situations. This fall we be making stops at schools in Louisville, Cincinnati, Pittsburg and Cleveland.
