The HartBeat of Main Street

The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic continue to be felt throughout our country and our economy, and we at The Hartford remain firm in our commitment to partnering with you and your clients to make it through this challenge.

As part of that commitment, we wanted to give you advanced insight into a new initiative The Hartford is leading to support small business in this current environment, aimed at providing businesses access to capital.

The HartBeat of Main Street

The Hartford is sponsoring a small business grant program in partnership with Main Street America, a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through preservation-based economic development. We've committed $1M toward the first wave of grants, which Main Street America will award and administer.

Businesses which employ 20 or fewer full-time employees and maintain and operate a "brick-and-mortar" location in an older or historic main street, downtown or commercial district in the U.S. will be eligible to apply for the grants, which will range from $5K - $15K to help with COVID-related business costs.

The application process for the program will open July 27 through Main Street America's sitio web; where you will be able to learn more about eligibility and application criteria. Grant recipients do not need to be current or former customers of The Hartford and we will have no role in evaluating applications or choosing grant recipients.

America's small businesses are strong and resilient, but in these unprecedented times they need assistance. We're pleased to contribute to the revitalization of our small business economy; and we look forward to continuing to partner with you to serve our shared customers.
